Essential Phone now getting December 2018 security update

In addition to Google’s Pixel and Nexus devices, the Essential Phone is getting its December 2018 security update today.

Essential has confirmed that it’s now pushing an update to the Essential Phone that includes Google’s December 2018 security patches. The update is build PPR1.181005.099, comes in at 58.4MB, and is based on Android 9.0 Pie.

Essential has been pretty fast with its software updates for the Essential Phone lately. The company pushed Android Pie to its phone on the same day that Google updated its Pixel phones, and we often see the Essential Phone get security updates on the same day as Pixel phones, too. It’s awesome to see Essential keep this up, and we’re sure Essential Phone owners are pretty thrilled about Essential’s software update efforts.
