Montblanc Summit 2 features Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor, $995 price tag

The first smartwatch with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor is here.

The Montblanc Summit 2 launched today, and it’s the first smartwatch to include the Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset that Qualcomm announced last month. The focus of the Snapdragon Wear 3100 is to offer improved performance and better battery life, with Qualcomm saying that compared to the Snapdragon Wear 2100, the 3100 can get between four and 12 hours more battery life.

With its 340mAh battery, Montblanc says that the Summit 2 can get a full day of battery life, complete with its always-on color ambient mode that makes your watch face visible at all times. If you’d like to extend your battery life, the Summit 2 has a Time Only Mode that disables smartwatch functionality but will show the time at the flick of a wrist. Montblanc says that you can get 3-5 days of battery life in this mode.

Also included with the Summit 2 is a round 1.2-inch 390×390 AMOLED screen, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of built-in storage. There’s an array of sensors included as well, like a heart rate sensor, altimeter, accelerometer, gyroscope, and ambient light sensor, and Montblanc has thrown in GPS, a microphone, and NFC for Google Pay as well. All of those features are packed into a 42mm case that offers 5 ATM water resistance and accepts 22mm interchangeable straps.

On the software side, the Summit 2 comes with Wear OS, and Montblanc has included several of its own features. A Timeshifter app will help you minimize jet lag by offering advice on caffeine intake as well as the ideal sleeping and light exposure schedule, while a Travel Info app will offer details like currency rates and basic words and phrases for when you’re in a foreign country.

There are some fitness features included with the Summit 2 as well. The Montblanc Running Coach app will analyze your fitness levels based on VO2 Max and give you a personalized training plan. The app also includes a live coach to encourage you while you’re working out, and the Running Coach watch face will show your fitness levels and heart rate while exercising.

Montblanc is now selling the Summit 2 with a starting price of $995, which will get you a stainless steel or black steel case with leather band. There’s also a Titanium Sport Edition that comes with a titanium case and rubber strap that focuses on being lightweight and will sell for $1,095.
