Engadget gets hands-on with unreleased Pixel 3 XL

The Pixel 3 XL has been shown off more than any other device in recent history. While we thought the leaks might die down before the official launch on Tuesday, October 9, the opposite has happened. In a crowning early look, the good folks at Engadget managed to get their hands on the unreleased Pixel 3 XL, courtesy of a mobile phone store in Hong Kong.

Though the launch has yet to take place, this unreleased device came fully-boxed and seems legitimate, particularly considering its steep price tag of HK$15,880 (about $2030 USD).

The site is able to confirm many rumored specs, including lack of a headphone jack (a USB-C-to-headphone adapter is included), 6.3-inch 2960×1440 display, 128GB storage, Snapdragon 845 processor, 12.2-megapixel rear camera, and two 8-megapixel front cameras (one regular, one wide-angle). CPU-Z also reported a battery voltage of 3732mAh, though rumors have pointed to a 3430mAh battery. Additionally, this model had 4GB of RAM, though Engadget predicts that there will be a variant with 6GB of RAM.

The notch design is present, alongside Android 9.0 Pie’s features, including Active Edge, which allows users to trigger actions by squeezing the sides of the Pixel 3 XL.

While we might think we’ve seen everything there is to see regarding the Pixel 3 devices, Google could still surprise us on Tuesday. Stay tuned for continuing coverage!
