DisplayMate says Pixel 3 XL OLED display earns ‘highest A+ rating’

A new high-end smartphone typically garners plenty of attention, especially when it comes to the camera, display, and a few other areas. Google’s Pixel 3 XL is probably going to get a lot more attention in the display area thanks to its immediate predecessor.

It isn’t a secret that the Pixel 2 XL’s display didn’t quite make everyone happy that got to look at it. And while Google tweaked and updated the handset, and the device’s display turned out to be just fine in the end, it was still a bit of a rough patch for an otherwise well-received handset.

So when the Pixel 3 XL’s OLED display, the biggest to date and featuring a notch at the top, was unveiled earlier today, there was some obvious speculation as to whether or not Google went out of its way to improve the experience right out of the gate compared to last year. Turns out, it may have done just that.

DisplayMate, the publication that evaluates smartphone displays in lengthy and in-depth testing processes, has tweeted out a teaser of what’s to come later this month: a full in-depth look at the Pixel 3 XL’s OLED display. In the tweet, DisplayMate aims to quell some fears, saying that the Pixel 3 XL’s display has earned the publication’s “highest A+ rating” and DisplayMate’s “Best Smartphone Display Award”.

The publication that states that the full review will be published on Monday, October 15.

So, that’s good news, hopefully. For anyone who was less than impressed with the Pixel 2 XL’s display, this is something to look forward to.
