Samsung Galaxy Note 9 revealed in first leaked render

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is on the way. The FCC has already approved the upcoming phablet and we know that Samsung is going to unveil it on August 9. Now the rumor mill has gone ahead and provided our first look at the future flagship smartphone, revealing a device that Samsung is apparently not going out of its way to overly redesign this year.

The render, which Android Headlines says is an official image provided by a reliable source, indicates that the Galaxy Note 9 is going to look basically identical to last year’s Galaxy Note 8 in the front.

The front-facing camera, iris scanner, assorted sensors, LED, and earpiece are in the same spots they were in the Galaxy Note 8. The handset will still have a big screen with minimized bezels, and the physical buttons on the side look to be staying the same when compared to last year’s model, too. That includes the hardware Bixby button below the volume rocker, for better or worse.

Unfortunately, we only have the front to look at this time around, as there isn’t a separate render for the back of the phone. That means we can’t see whether or not Samsung has moved the fingerprint reader, as rumors have suggested it will. Samsung moved the fingerprint reader to a lower spot on the Galaxy S9 earlier this year, so it’s likely we’ll see the same move later this year with the Galaxy Note 9 as well.

If you liked the Galaxy Note 8, this looks to be more of the same. Are you already planning on picking up the Galaxy Note 9?
