Google releases Android P Developer Preview 4

It has been just under a month since Google released the third Developer Preview for Android P, and now the company is back with the fourth installment.

Google on Monday released Android P Beta 3 (Developer Preview 4) out into the wild. In the previous beta, Google confirmed it included the final APIs, and this newest release brings the platform “very close” to the final version of Android P that will be released later this summer.

If you are not already signed up for the developer preview program, you can do so right here. If you are, then registered devices will automatically download the new software as it becomes available. The Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL should begin receiving the over-the-air (OTA) update today. Meanwhile, Google’s partners that are part of the developer preview program (including Essential) should send out the update for their own supported devices in the coming weeks.

When Android P launches sometime in the third quarter of this year, it will bring with it a new gesture-based navigation, support for display notches, and a digital wellbeing feature that will let you keep tabs on the apps you use and how often you use your phone, among other things.
