Xiaomi Mi 8 Anniversary Edition to be announced on May 31

Xiaomi, a smartphone manufacturer based out of China, is celebrating its eight year anniversary in 2018, and it will be launching a new smartphone to celebrate.

As first discovered by GizmoChina, Xiaomi will be hosting an event in Shenzhen, China, on May 31 to unveil the Mi 8 Anniversary Edition. The name of the phone is meant to promote the eighth anniversary of the company, and rumors suggest it will be yet another high-end device.

One of the major features of the Mi 8 Anniversary Edition is expected to be an in-display fingerprint reader. Vivo was the first company to use this feature with its X20 Plus UD that launched earlier this year.

Xiaomi is reportedly including 3D facial recognition in the Mi 8 Anniversary Edition, as well as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB of RAM, a battery that measures in at 4000mAh, and a 6-inch display that will have minimized bezels.

We don’t have long to wait before Xiaomi makes the Mi 8 Anniversary Edition official, so stay tuned.
