Alcatel 1X Android Go phone is coming to the US, will cost less than $100

The Alcatel 1X was the first Android Go phone that we met at MWC last month, and today we’ve got a bit more info about its pricing and availability.

Alcatel has confirmed that the 1X (shown above) is coming to the US and that it’ll be sold for less than $100. That’s about as specific as the company is getting right now, though, as it’s only said that the launch will happen sometime in “the coming months”.

Because it’s an Android Go phone, the Alcatel 1X has some fairly entry-level specs. It’s got a 5.3-inch 960×480 display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, 8MP rear and 5MP front cameras, 1GB of RAM, and a quad-core MediaTek MT6739 processor. It’s also packing 16GB of built-in storage with a microSD card slot if you need more storage space and a 2,460mAh battery.

Android Go phones are meant to offer a good user experience with entry-level specs. This includes hardware and software optimizations, and Google has said that Android Go helps apps to run on average 15 percent faster. Google has also worked to shrink the size of its Go apps so that they take up less storage on these devices.

It’s exciting to get more details on the launch of the Alcatel 1X, and we’re glad to learn that it’s coming to the US. Not everyone wants to drop hundreds and hundreds of dollars on a flagship Android phone, and with Android Go devices, they can get an affordable Android phone that still offers smooth performance.

The Alcatel 3V is also making its way to the US in the coming months. Alcatel isn’t talking price for this model, but the model is priced at €180 ($221 USD) in Europe, so it should be fairly affordable in the US as well.

The Alcatel 3V’s specs include a 6-inch 2160×1080 display with 18:9 aspect ratio, quad-core MediaTek MT8735A processor, 5MP front camera, and a dual rear camera setup with 12MP and 2MP sensors. There’s 16GB of storage inside the device along with a microSD card slot, 2GB of RAM, a 3,000mAh battery, and Android Oreo.
