OnePlus 3 and 3T to get beta version of Face Unlock in the future

Face Unlock was a new feature launched on the OnePlus 5T and later released for the OnePlus 5 in an OxygenOS beta. But OnePlus had decided to go one step further in supporting its older devices.

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said that the OnePlus 3 and 3T will be getting this Face Unlock feature in beta form in the future. Unfortunately, all that was stated is “beta” so we don’t know if it will ever be an official feature.

‘There’s no reason to withhold features we can easily implement.”

Face Unlock is not a particularly secure lock method, as it just uses the regular front-facing camera instead of more advanced sensors (like Windows Hello and especially Apple Face ID) but it’s a quick way to unlock your device without the everyday person getting into it with ease. Hopefully this feature comes to the older devices soon!
