OnePlus 3 and 3T now receiving update to OxygenOS 5.0.1
OnePlus has released a new update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T that brings them up to OxygenOS 5.0.1. Though Oreo has already been released with the OxygenOS 5.0 update, this latest update brings bug fixes, additional features, and a security patch. Here’s the full changelog:
- Added support for aptX HD
- Added Wi-Fi hotspot device manager
- Added “adaptive mode” screen calibration
- Updated Android security patch to December
- General bug fixes and stability improvements
The addition of aptX HD and the December security patch is definitely appreciated, though the January security patch should have been used. However, many users have noticed a warning popping up saying a system app is harmful. The FactoryMode app was previously called EngineerMode and received quite a bit of time in the spotlight over security concerns.
The app can be disabled if one wishes as it’s not a critical system app. But Google seems to want users to disable it, likely to remove any potential security issues.
The update is now rolling out, though it’s a staged rollout so you may not receive it immediately. Let us know if you get it! And if you want the system images, head here for the OnePlus 3 and here for the OnePlus 3T.
