HTC U11 EYEs official with dual front-facing cameras
Just a few days ago word surfaced that HTC was planning on launching a new mid-range handset under the U11 brand.
Now the HTC U11 EYEs is official with most of the rumored specifications included. That means it’s got a 6-inch Super LCD 3 display with a resolution of 1080×2160, and under the hood there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of built-in storage. It also supports a microSD card slot for expandable storage, and the battery measures in at 3930mAh.
The biggest focus of the U11 EYEs are the cameras. There is only a single camera on the back of the handset which is a 12MP UltraPixel shooter with an f/1.7 aperture. It offers optical image stabilization and HDR Boost mode as well. Around front there are a pair of 5MP cameras which include support for bokeh effect, screen flash, HDR Boost, and apertures of f/2.2.
The HTC U11 EYEs also boasts Edge Sense support so owners will be able to squeeze their device to control certain software actions. Other features of the HTC U11 EYEs include NFC, HTC Sense Companion, USB Type-C for charging, and IP67-rated for water and dust resistance. Unfortunately, there’s no 3.5mm headphone jack here. The new smartphone does support Face Unlock, though, which can be accessed by squeezing the sides of the phone.
The U11 EYEs goes on sale in Hong Kong beginning Wednesday, January 17 for HK$3,898 (about $500). It will be available in blue, red, and black when it goes on sale. There’s no word on a launch beyond Hong Kong yet.
