Android Wear 2.8 update includes darker background, better notification glanceability
If you are using an Android Wear smartwatch, a new update being rolled out now will add a couple new worthwhile features to your device.
Android Wear 2.8 is now available. The new software brings along with it a darker background, which should help with general readability while looking at the watch on your wrist. On top of that, the update also includes “improved notification glanceability”. This means that notifications will now have a different layout, which should mean there is more information to see at a glance.
Being able to look at a notification and see more information, which means maybe opening apps less, is a good thing in general. And for devices with OLED displays, the darker background should help to alleviate strain on the battery.
The update is pretty small, but the new additions should be welcomed.
