Google cuts price of USB-C to 3.5mm headphone adapter from $20 to $9

When Google introduced its new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, it said that each 3.5mm port-less phone would include a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter. If you wanted any beyond that, you’d have to pony up $20 per adapter, but now that price has been lowered.

The Google Store now lists the USB-C to 3.5mm adapter at a price of $9, which is the same price that Apple charges for its Lightning to 3.5mm adapter. If you want an adapter that includes 3.5mm and another USB-C port so that you can charge your phone and listen to music at the same time, Google sells a Moshi adapter that’s a bit pricier at $44.95.

Google’s original $20 asking price for the USB-C to 3.5mm adapter always seemed like a bit much, especially considering the price of Apple’s adapter. That’s why it’s good to see Google reduce the price of its adapter to match Apple’s in the days before the Pixel 2’s launch. Sure, each Pixel 2 comes with one, but some folks may want an extra to leave in a second place or to have as a backup in case they lose the pack-in adapter.
