T-Mobile will begin testing its 600MHz network this summer

T-Mobile has been working diligently over the years to not only revolutionize its image as the Un-carrier, but also grow and sustain its network infrastructure throughout the United States.

That trend continues today with the announcement that T-Mobile will begin testing its 600MHz network this summer. The FCC has officially granted T-Mobile the new spectrum licenses it won at a recent auction. The first testing will begin this summer, and T-Mobile says that commercial availability will go live sometime before the end of 2017.

To actually use the new spectrum, you’ll need a device that supports it. T-Mobile announced that “new 600MHz smartphones from Samsung and other manufacturers” will arrive later this year, but didn’t say which devices they’ll be or when they will actually be available to buy.

Technically speaking, T-Mobile owns 600MHz spectrum in all 50 states, but it’s not clear where the testing will begin or even where the public rollout will go live later this year. Either way, when it arrives it will offer better coverage for T-Mobile customers, so this is good news for them.

Have you recently switched to T-Mobile?
