Google pushing Android N Developer Preview’s first update

When Google announced the Android N Developer Preview last week, it said that it’d be pushing updates before the final release later this year. We just didn’t expect the updates to start so soon.

An Android N Developer Preview Update is now available for the Nexus 6P and 5X, Nexus 9, and Nexus Player. The build that rolled out last week was NCP56P, but today the 6P and 5X are getting NCP56W, the 9 is getting NCP56X, and the Player is getting NCP56R.

The updates are around 30MB in size, suggesting that they’re focused on fixing bugs rather than introducing whole new features. Still, it’s exciting to see Google already pushing an update to the Android N Developer Preview. Not only is it some fresh software for us to check out, but like the original Android N Developer Preview, it’s a surprise. And while Google may not push out new N updates every single week, perhaps we’ll see them every couple of weeks or so leading up to Google handing the full N release off to manufacturers this summer.

To grab this Android N update, you folks in the Android Beta Program should be able to get it over the air. Anyone that manually flashed the last update will need to flash this one, too.
