Nvidia introduces a new version of their Tegra K1 Shield Tablet

Today Nvidia has announced a new version of their gaming-centric Android Shield tablet. This new version comes in at a lower price point than the original Shield Tablet, and all the hardware that the original came with. Well almost all the hardware. There are a few small differences between the two tablets.

The new Shield tablet comes with Nvidia's Tegra K1 chipset with the same 8" screen running at 1920 x 1200. It also comes with 16GB of storage as well as a microSD slot, the same dual front-facing speakers, and 2GB of RAM. Like we mentioned, it is pretty much identical hardware-wise. There is one thing missing with this version, hardware-wise with the tablet itself, is the stylus. That is no longer a part of the Shield tablet, well this version anyways. The new Shield tablet will be coming with Android Marshmallow as well, and the original tablet will be getting that as well in an upcoming update.

The other difference between the two is what comes with the new Shield tablet when you buy it. Until now the original came with a USB cord and charger. That is no longer the case with this new one. The reason for no USB cord or charger? Cutting the cost plus Nvidia pretty much figures everyone has a bunch of them laying around anyways, which is true for myself at least. I have far more cords and chargers than devices.

So, the new Shield Tablet has no stylus, no USB cord or charge, and now costs $199 which is a hundred less than the original tablet. The outter look of the tablet is identical as well minus the spot where the stylus used to be. That isn't there anymore.
