Microsoft Preparing Google Cardboard Competitor Called “VR Kit”

Microsoft's attempt at DIY Virtual Reality Kits comes in the form of the "VR Kit". The VR Kit was spotted on a website which was promoting a hackathon in Russia. "Successful" ideas at the hackathon will be given the VR Kit to promote further development of these ideas.
