A few days ago we reported that Telltale Games would be unveiling more details about what we can all expect to find in their new Minecraft-themed series during Minecon 2015. Officially titled Minecraft: Stoy Mode, very little details about this game have been available until today. Now we have the first trailer for Minecraft: Story Mode as well as additional details about what to expect and the cast for this game.

Minecraft: Story Mode is a team effort between Telltale Games and Mojang and what we do know so far before today is that this wasn't going to be any sort of in-depth story behind the Minecraft world or about Steve. So then what is it actually about?

Well Minecraft: Story Mode will be an all-new narrative-driven series with a total of five episodes planned so far. While there will be familiar themes found in this series, it will be a completely original experience with all new characters introduced in this game, but all of it is inspired by Minecraft. Players will be taking control of Jesse, the story's main Protagonist. The actor behind Jesse will be Patton Oswald.

Here is the main story arch for Minecraft: Story Mode:

Jesse and his group of friends revere the legendary Order of the Stone; four adventurers who slayed an Ender Dragon. The Order are the very best at what they do: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect. While at EnderCon, Jesse and his friends discover that something is wrong... something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, and they must set out on a journey to find The Order of the Stone if they are to save their world from oblivion.

Confirmed cast members who will portraying characters include Patton Oswalt, Brian Posehn, Ashley Johnson, Scott Porter, Martha Plimpton, Dave Fennoy, Corey Feldman, Billy West, and Paul Reubens. This isn't all of the cast though as more will be coming on board for different episodes.

We've worked closely with the amazing team at Mojang to ensure this story is a natural fit for the Minecraft world fans already know and love. As Jesse, players will steer their own path through a tale of adventure and survival; all brought to life by an all-star cast. Through Telltale's choice-based gameplay and a story spanning from the Nether to the Farlands, the End, and beyond, we can't wait for fans to experience this new take on the beloved world of Minecraft. - Kevin Bruner, CEO and co-founder of Telltale Games

As for launch details, no pricing has been announced yet but we can expect the first episode of Minecraft: Story Mode to arrive later this year. Like previous Telltale Games, this one will be published onto all platforms including Android. In the meantime, you can check out the world premier trailer for Minecraft: Story Mode in the video above.
