[DroidGamers Weekend Play Game Review]: Climax: Puzzles, Movies and Fun

Studio Baikin is headquarted in Lyon, France. The studio has produced some pretty interesting games since coming on the scene. What I like about the games they produce, is that they are quite different from one another. Thus far they have created Dark Guardians, Slashing Demons, Bun Bun Bam, and Climax. If you enjoy movies and puzzles, Climax is a game worth downloading.

The game is all about key scenes in some of the most popular movies in recent history. I will just name a few movie titles that have puzzles in the game to whet your appetite. The Matrix, Taxi Driver, Back to the Future, Iron Man, The Birds, Kill Bill, Rocky, Fight Club, Jurassic Park and many others. There are sixty movies that have different puzzles in the game. You are presented with a graphic from the movie, or something generally related to the movie, and you are required to solve the puzzle before the time runs out.

Weekend Play Game Reviews give DroidGamers an opportunity to highlight some games that may have been overlooked in a busy week of game releases. Some  of the games may have been released a couple of weeks ago, or longer, but they still merit reviewing. This gives you an opportunity to catch up on some good gaming during your weekend.

Of course we don't want to spoil anything for you, but you have to have some idea of what to expect right? Okay, here is the only example I will give because pretty much everyone probably knows the answer. I will still leave it blank for you to answer on your own. You are shown the title of the movie Star Wars and beneath the movie title it asks you to provide an answer. Which is how each puzzle is presented, movie title and what you are required to do beneath it. You are shown an image of Darth Vader's head, and you are presented with this quote, and you have to choose the right answer. "Luke, I am your______?"  You are given the following choices: mother, father, brother, sister and neighbor. Any real movie buff will be able to answer that question with ease. In another Star Wars puzzle you are asked to use the force. That one took me a little while to figure out.

The challenge with the game is being able to figure out what you have to do, and to do it before the timer runs out. While some of the puzzles are easy to figure out, they are difficult to do in a small amount of time. Each time you successively complete a round of puzzles, the game speeds up. The word faster pops up on the screen and the background music speeds up also. It can really get kind of frantic with the game play, and that is part of the huge draw with this game.

Climax costs $.99 to download, and there are no in-app purchases in the game. Once you get the hang of it, it really is an enjoyable game to play. There were a couple of puzzles that I knew how to complete, but had difficulty completing them consistently. I am not sure why that was the case, but it happened several times on one of the puzzles involving The Matrix. It doesn't take away from the fun, but some of the puzzles require you to be very quick and very precise. Nimble fingers are a must with this game. The game starts off with ten movies unlocked. The higher the score you are able to attain, the more movies you will be able to unlock in the game.

Climax is a game that you and your friends can easily enjoy for some quick moments of gaming. The art work in the game is great and the puzzles are fun and relatively easy if you know your movie trivia. I hope Studio Baikin continues to add more movies to the game, because it is a game you can easily expand on for quite some time. There are a lot of movies that come to mind. It could even be expanded to foreign films, war dramas, martial arts and so on, with so many classic movies out there. $.99 is money well spent in my opinion, on this unique puzzle game. The Play Store lists the $.99 price as an introductory launch offer price at 50% off. We are not sure how long that will last. The game launched back in April, so if you are interested, you may want to grab it while it is still $.99
