Wargaming.net has announced their new World of Tanks Generals game has begun closed beta testing and that sign-ups are now live. To start off with, the closed beta will be browser version only but will have an Android and iOS version added to the closed beta testing phase in the near future.

Update: March 2nd, 2015 10:55am PST: World of Tanks Generals closed beta testing sign-ups are now officially live. There was a bit of a hiccup at first with sign-ups but is appears all is good and interested people can sign-up through the links at the end of this article.

For those of you not familiar with this game, World of Tanks Generals is a new spin-off game of Warngaming.net's World of Tanks franchise. Before you lose your minds with excitement over a new World of Tanks game, this particular one is a card combat game. Players will choose their general to play as, which can be from any of the countries available in the World of Tanks world, and using these generals players will command an army of tanks to take down their opponents with. Tanks are represented by cards that can be collected as you progress through the game.

World of Tanks Generals features both PvP and PvE gameplay, although you can bet that the PvP gameplay will be the meat of the game considering the franchise that it is a part of. Players can build a number of decks, tailor strategies and unlock new cards along the way to strengthen their decks (the decks being their army of tanks).

Our main goal with Closed Beta is to evolve the game into the incredible experience we’re aiming for. We've put a lot of effort into the game and are looking forward to seeing how testers like the current version, as well as hear their ideas and suggestions about the game's future. - Andrey Zimenko, Director of Global Operations, World of Tanks Generals.

This closed beta will feature a good chunk of the game, with three factions to choose from - USA, Germany and the USSR. In total there will be over 200 cards available during the closed beta testing phase for players to choose and build their armies with. A single login feature is also being implemented in this game, and all other Wargaming.net titles, which will allows players to use a unified Wargaming.net ID to login any titles in the Wargaming.net brand that they are playing. Since this is a TCG title, it will be free-to-play and feature IAPs for booster packs.

There is no specific release date for World of Tanks Generals, nor is there a specific date as to when the Android version will begin closed beta testing. If you want to get in on the action, you can sign-up now through the game's official website. At the time of writing this, the official website is down for maintenance. We will post a new update once the Android version begins closed beta testing.
