Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet, The Thinnest 10″ Tablet, Is Now Official

While the likes of Samsung and HTC were busy announcing their next big things in the mobile market at their Mobile World Congress events, Sony was turning up the heat in the tablet market with the launch of its latest offering, the Xperia Z4 Tablet.

Coming with a 10.1″ IPS display offering 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution, the Xperia Z4 tablet is the successor to the successful Z2 tablet released in 2014. As a true successor, the Z4 Tablet offers everything that Z2 did right, and then some more.

Powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit Octa-core processor, the Z4 Tablet also boasts of the Adreno 430 in the GPU department, along with 3GB of RAM. These specs translate into a high-end experience on paper, and keeping in mind the Z2 tablet’s performance, real world performance will not be behind either.

What’s more, Sony has been busy making things even better, as the Z4 tablet weighs in at just 389g for the WI-Fi version, and 393g for the LTE version. Comparing to the Z2 tablet’s 426g (Wi-Fi) and 439g (LTE), that’s a difference of 37g and 46g respectively, all the while maintaining the 6000 mAh battery and trimming down the thickness of the device to just 6.1mm. Even though the display and processor have been bumped up, Sony is promising 17 hrs of video playback on their tablet flagship.

Other highlights of the device include 32 GB of onboard storage, expandable via a micro sd card slot; 8MP rear and 5MP wide-angle front cameras, stereo speakers and Android 5.0. The Tablet is also IP68-certified like other Sony offerings.

Sony has not given any official word regarding the price, but the device is set for a global launch in June this year. With a spec sheet like this, it would be no surprise if the product sits firmly in the high-end product category. After all, it did color us impressed.
