Yahoo Mail App Updated To v4.8.2 With Package Tracking Updates, Flight Notifications, And More

Using a Yahoo email address isn't really "cool" anymore, but millions of people do. The Yahoo Mail app for Android is getting an update today, so maybe it's time to go back and fire up that old Yahoo account. You'll find the Yahoo Mail app wants to be a lot more than an inbox.

Here's the changelog for the new version.

  • Get real-time updates for package shipments from Amazon, eBay, Nordstrom and more.
  • Customize and read your daily horoscope.
  • Edit your favorite sports teams so you never miss a game.
  • Flight notifications now support Orbitz and CheapTickets.
  • Personalize Yahoo Today with new edit options.
  • We also added bug fixes and performance improvements so that your Yahoo Mail experience is smoother than ever

So clearly these are not the sort of functions you'd expect from an email client. Yahoo has been working to make its mail app a hub for several of its other services. It shows weather, news, and a few other bits of data. With with the new update it has a little Google Now flavor with the package tracking and flight data.

Oh, and you can read your horoscope in Yahoo Mail now, which... okay, I guess that's neat if you're into that sort of thing. Here's your AP-approved $100% real horoscope—today you will face great challenges, but your mood will improve when you read Android Police and download a new app.
