Partners not named Samsung rally around Qualcomm Snapdragon 810

LG, Motorola Xiaomi, OPPO, Sony all laud latest chipset

Chipmaker Qualcomm this morning sent out a press release with manufacturing partners singing the praises of the new Snapdragon 810 processor. LG, Xiaomi, Motorola, Sony, OPPO and Microsoft all laud the latest generation of Qualcomm's system-on-a-chip, which has faced a spate of bad press after a number of anonymous reports pointed to the upcoming (and as-yet unannounced) Samsung Galaxy S6 having issues with the 810 in testing. It's since been said — and seemingly confirmed by Qualcomm — that Samsung instead would use its own Exynos processor in its upcoming flagship.

Nobody accidentally name-dropped any unannounced devices, but LG and Xiaomi did praise the 810 inside the new LG G Flex 2 and Xiaomi Note Pro, respectively. LG had initially said it didn't have overheating issues with Snapdragon 810 but later walked that back a bit and said any issues had been addressed and fixed.
