The Original Moto G (XT1032) Gets Its Android 4.4.4 Over-The-Air Update

image

The original Moto X is getting Android 4.4.4! Well, at least one of them is. The Moto G actually had at least eight different variants designed for various global markets in 3G and LTE flavors. If you happen to have the XT1032 model, which is the most common international 3G-only version, you might be getting an over-the-air update to Android 4.4.4 right now. Why are you still reading this? Open your Settings menu already.

A few users over on XDA noted the update, and one was kind enough to post the ZIP file. If your phone is still running the stock Motorola recovery partition, you can download and flash it right away, though any root-level modifications of the software might fudge things up. Motorola has posted an update notice (version 210.12.61, different from the one posted above) for "all US Retail users," meaning that other versions if the phone sold in the United States might be getting 4.4.4 very soon as well.

Of course when it comes to updates, the current focus is on Lollipop. Motorola has committed to a Lollipop update for the original Moto G, including the LTE version, though predictably there's no date. That may or may not include the customized models released for Verizon and AT&T.
