Believe it or not, people do voluntarily enter into contracts with Verizon. That proposition is much more attractive today with the carrier's Black Friday deals. You can get $100 off all Android smartphones when purchased with a new contract, and a $150 bill credit for each line you move to Verizon.
You can go through Verizon or Amazon to get the same deals on most devices. For example, the Galaxy Note 4 was $299 at launch, but now it's $199. The Droid Turbo is down to just $99. The Galaxy S5, 2014 Moto X, Droid Maxx, and Xperia Z3v on the other hand, are free.
Amazon does still have a few deals that are cheaper than Verizon, like the $0.01 HTC One M8. Make sure you check both sites before signing away two years.
