Learn How to Theme TizenMod on Your Samsung Gear

Samsung Gear TizenMod Theming

Although it originally shipped with a highly customized version of Android, the Samsung Galaxy Gear (later renamed to Samsung Gear) has since been updated to run Tizen OS. This move, which brought the device inline with many of Samsung’s other smartwatches such as the Samsung Gear 2, carries with it an inherent set of pros and cons. While the device enjoys much improved battery life since its shift, all of the previous apps and utilities that we have come to enjoy are no longer compatible. Luckily, we’ve also seen the update get rooted and even jailbroken courtesy of TizenMod.

If you’ve got TizenMod running on your Tizen-powered Galaxy Gear or Samsung Gear 2 and you’d like to change the way things look and feel, you’ll be happy to know that Tizen is just as themable as Android is. To show you around, XDA Senior Member gav83collins created a handy guide that walks you through the process of changing the theme, font, alarm, notification and ringtone sounds, as well as adding busybox, modifying the Bluetooth stack, and tweaking the camera. You don’t have to do all of the modifications, and the guide shows you how to apply them selectively.

If you’ve got yourself a Tizen-powered Samsung Gear or Gear 2 smartwatch, make your way over to the TizenMod theming guide to learn more.
