Acer announces affordable 5-inch Liquid Z500, two new Iconia tablets at IFA

At the IFA, Acer announced a new 5-inch low-cost smartphone in the Liquid series, dubbed the Liquid Z500. Aimed at a younger audience, the device features dual front speakers, similar to what HTC offers on the One M8. Equipped with DTS Studio Sound, Acer claims that you can get CD quality audio from the front speakers.

Other specs of the Liquid Z500 include a 5-inch IPS screen of unknown resolution, 8 MP camera and a thickness of 8.6 mm. We'll know more once the device launches on September 15 for €149 ($195) in the UK.

In addition to the smartphone, Acer is expanding its Iconia tablet offerings with the Iconia Tab 10 and the Iconia One 8. The Iconia Tab 10 is a 10-inch tablet that features an IPS full-HD display coated with Corning's Gorilla Glass for scratch resistance, MediaTek quad-core processor, micro-HDMI port, WiDi capabilities and Android 4.4. The tablet will be available in the US later this month for $199.
