[Updated] Coming Soon: The Banner Saga – Viking Lore Comes to Life in Stoic Studio’s RPG

While the world waited with baited breath as announcements were pouring out of Google I/O yesterday, a small message appeared on the Twitter feed of Versus Evil. “We couldn’t be happier to see #BannerSaga by @StoicStudio coming to tablets this summer! Expect more info very soon!” What wonderful information can be found in a simple tweet!

Update: August 27th, 2014 2:47am PST: The Banner Saga for tablets has had a new release time frame announced. Originally this game was slated for release in the later half of the Summer. Now we should expect the game's release to be next month. We will post another update once it is out.

The Banner Saga was introduced on Kickstarter back in 2012 as role playing game for PC and Mac. Just to let you know how well it was received when it was introduced, the goal was $100,000. When the Kickstarter campaign ended it was fully funded at $723,886. To say gamers were excited about this project doesn’t quite fully describe it. The game reviews have been numerous and extremely positive. Later this summer, the game will arrive on tablets, which is a perfect format for this RPG.

The Banner Saga is an epic role-playing game inspired by Viking legend. Hand-painted landscapes portray a world eerily suspended in perpetual twilight. Cities and towns begin to crumble into chaos. Heroes abandon their hearths and homes to traverse the snowy countryside, gaining allies along the way to help battle a strange, new threat.  –Taken From Stoic Studio

The game play involves Turn-based strategy.  A look at the visuals created by Stoic Studio show the level of detail and thought put into each panel. If you haven’t had the opportunity to play this game on your PC/Mac, you won’t have to wait too much longer to play it on your tablet. We will wait for more information from Stoic Studio and Versus Evil their Marketing Team, to find out about pricing, the release date and what devices will have an opportunity to experience this Viking tale of adventure.
