Samsung begins ‘Try before you buy’ campaign for select devices
Motorola let some customers try out a Moto X before buying recently and Samsung decided that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and opted to do the same thing. At participating Galaxy Studio locations, customers can now try out select Samsung smartphones or watches for 21 days. The devices that Samsung noted in the press release were the Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3, Gear 2, and Gear Fit, though there could be more devices.
All of the devices come with the usual bundles that you would get when buying the device. The smartphones also come with data plans provided by Samsung so that you can use them as actual phones. The trial program is free, but you’ll have to provide Samsung with a deposit from your credit or debit card to make sure that you pay up if you happen to keep the device. If you opt to return the device, the deposit will be fully refunded. If you don’t return the device or you damage it, you’ll be expected to pay the full retail price of the phone, as expected.
The list of locations to take advantage of the offer is limited to:
- Dallas-Fort Worth/Frisco, TX: Stonebriar Centre Mall
- Houston/The Woodlands, TX: The Woodlands Mall
- Los Angeles/Canoga Park, CA: Westfield Topanga
- New York City: Samsung Galaxy Studio SoHo
- Santa Clara, CA Westfield Valley Fair
Some major cities are covered, but that still leaves a lot of people without the offer. Samsung unfortunately hasn’t hinted at any plans to make it available through the mail either. Nonetheless, the program should be good for people in participating areas.
