Motorola’s Punit Soni posts screenshot of new feature on Moto G. Resolution is 1080p?
The Moto G has an issue that has annoyed many. The carrier is shown in the status bar at all times, taking up valuable space where notifications can go. That wouldn’t be a big deal, if some overseas carriers didn’t have ridiculously long names that took up the entirety of the space up there. It looks like Motorola will be doing something about it. But the implications of how they showed this off could be larger.
Punit Soni, Motorola’s VP of product management, posted a screenshot of the mobile network settings of a device, showing a new toggle to disable the feature that shows the mobile network name in the status bar. However, the device definitely wasn’t a Moto G. The resolution of the screenshot is 1080p, but the Moto G comes in at 720p. In fact, Motorola doesn’t currently have any 1080p devices on the market.
So, what could this device be? Of course, our first thought is the Moto X+1. We’ve heard plenty of rumors and have even seen a possible photo of it, but we still know very little about the device. A 1080p screen seems a logical upgrade over the Moto X, and it would make some sense to be testing this feature on a device currently in development before releasing it to older devices.
What do you guys think? Is this screenshot from the Moto X+1, or could it be something else? Does Motorola have something interesting in store for us? Leave a comment!
