Latest ComScore numbers show Android climbing, Apple just barely declining

ComScore reports are always interesting to look at, though not much changes between reports. ComScore looks at three month periods and reports how each operating system and manufacturer did in that time here in the US, showing market share percentages. And while the landscape isn’t all that different from what it usually is, Android (and Samsung) gained a bit of lead over Apple in the last three months.

Android rose 0.8 points, coming to 52.5% total market share, while Apple dropped 0.2 points. And before anyone says anything, such a tiny drop is irrelevant as the company will just rise a bit next time. Microsoft gained 0.1 points, which is impressive only because it hasn’t dropped. Blackberry dropped 0.6 points, coming to 2.5% total market share.

Looking at manufacturers, Samsung got a one point boost since January. LG, Motorola, and HTC all sadly witnessed drops in market share. HTC comes in below both Motorola and LG, despite releasing the One (M8) quite a while ago, so things aren’t looking good for HTC. However, there’s still plenty of time for the company to bounce back.

Android still sits on its throne, and that won’t change anytime soon. What’s important is for other Android manufacturers to start rising up in market share.
