Samsung now selling Verizon Galaxy S5 Developer Edition

Last month, a Developer Edition of the Verizon Galaxy S5 quietly popped up on Samsung’s official website. The device’s existence didn’t come as a total shock since Verizon and Samsung have teamed up on several Developer Edition smartphones in the past, but at the time, we didn’t know when the Dev Edition S5 would launch or how much it’d cost when it did. Now both of those mysteries have been solved.

Samsung is now selling the Verizon Galaxy S5 Developer Edition through its own online store. Pricing for the device is set at $599.99, and there’s no subsidized pricing available. In exchange for your hard-earned Benjamins, you’ll receive a Galaxy S5 that’s similar to the regular Verizon S5, but with a an easily-unlockable bootloader to simplify the process of loading up custom ROMs.

With its full retail price of $600 and no options for subsidized pricing or Verizon Edge, this Galaxy S5 Developer Edition won’t be for everyone. However, for those Verizon folk that do really want an Galaxy S5 that they can tinker with, it’s nice to see Verizon and Samsung continue to offer Developer Editions of their flagship phones.

It’s also worth noting that this Verizon Galaxy S5 Developer Edition is the same price as Verizon’s regular, full retail Galaxy S5. So if you’re waffling between the two, know that there’s no price difference between them.

If you’ve got $600 to blow and an urge to tinker with a Galaxy S5, you can buy the Verizon Galaxy S5 Developer Edition by clicking the “Add to Car” button right here.
