[APK] Google Search 3.4 Brings Parking Location Card, New Reminder Interface, and Custom Nickname Management
Earlier today, Google released standalone versions of its Docs and Sheets apps. But this wasn’t all that Google had in store for us this Update Wednesday. The Google Search app has just received a major update to version 3.4.15.1143430, up from the previously available 3.3.11.1069658 build. And as one would expect from a major point revision update, this release brings quite a few new tricks.
Perhaps most significantly, today’s update to Google Search gives us a new Parking Location card, which detects and keeps track of where you parked. This is all done automatically, so you don’t have to manually “check in” once you’ve reached your destination and parked. But because of this, the new feature only keeps track of your car’s “approximate location,” so it’s still a good idea to keep track of where you parked manually. Luckily, however, if Google gets it wrong, the application is able to show you other likely locations for your car.
Today’s update also brings a new reminder management interface that displays past and future reminders, all while allowing you to easily create new reminders. In addition, Search 3.4 also allows you to manage your stored contact nicknames—a feature which itself was added just over two months ago.
The update is currently making its way out to consumer devices in the form of a staged rollout, as Google frequently does. That said, it can’t hurt to head over to the Google Play Store listing for Search. That said, if you wish to get in on the update action a bit early, we’ve gone ahead and mirrored the APK on our Dev-Host account for your sideloading pleasure.
Are you a fan of today’s update? The new Parking Location card has the potential to become a game changer if done right, but only time will tell how accurate and dependable the detection is.
