Google Currently Testing Android 4.4.3 KTU72B, Possibly Bringing Nexus 5 Camera Fix?

android-4.4.3

Yet another mystery Android build appears. No, it’s not the future Linux kernel 3.14-based Android 4.5/5.0. But for Nexus 5 owners, it may just be the next best thing.

Earlier today, a Nexus 5 was spotted around the web running a test build of Android 4.4.3. Its corresponding build number is KUT72B, differing from the current KOT49H release, which has been available for quite some time.

So what could this new update hold for end users? Nothing is known for certain at this time. But given that the Nexus 5 has been suffering from a nasty camera bug, it is highly likely that this release will rectify this.

For those unaware, the Nexus 5 camera bug causes high CPU usage on the device due to a problem with mm-qcamera-daemon when the camera is used in various third-party apps. As stated by the Google team, the fix is scheduled to be “included in the next maintenance update.” This theory is further supported by XDA Recognized Contributor LlabTooFeR, who Tweeted:

Android 4.4.3 is under testing. Build number is KTU72B. Probably it will fix known camera bug.

While it’s highly likely that 4.4.3 is geared specifically at fixing the N5 camera bug, it’s anybody’s guess as to whether this update also brings some other goodies and/or bug fixes. Are there any other bugs plaguing your Android 4.4.2 experience that you’d like squashed? What else do you think could be included in 4.4.3? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
