Benchmark score puts the all new HTC One ahead of the competition

Leaked pictures of the all new HTC One make it easy to assume that the device will be powered the a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chip. A new image shows the device’s AnTuTu Benchmark results screen with a score that’s 5-10% higher than the results posted by the Sony Xperia Z2 and Samsung Galaxy S5. While the performance is higher than other devices running the Snapdragon 801 chip, HTC has been known to increase hardware performance to improve its scores during benchmark tests.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chip is slightly faster than last year’s Snapdragon 800, but the performance increase is put into perspective when compared to the Snapdragon 600 that powered the 2013 HTC One. If the AnTuTu score of 37,000 is accurate, the all new HTC One will outperform the 2013 HTC One by more than 35%. Benchmark scores do a good job highlighting peak performance, but unfortunately  the numbers don’t give us insight into how the device will perform day-to-day.
