Google Confirms YouTube Is Now Headed Up By Susan Wojcicki, Previously Senior Vice President Of Ads And Commerce

Google's new head of YouTube will be Susan Wojcicki, formerly a Senior Vice President of Ads and Commerce. She is replacing Salar Kamangar, who will remain with Google to work on other things. CEO Larry Page made the announcement earlier today in an emailed statement.

"Salar and the whole YouTube team have built something amazing. YouTube is a billion-person global community curating videos for every possibility. Anyone uploading their creative content can reach the whole world and even make money. Like Salar, Susan has a healthy disregard for the impossible and is excited about improving YouTube in ways that people will love."

Wojcicki was the 19th employee to join Google, having come onboard back in 1999. She is the sister of Anne Wojcicki, who married Google co-founder Sergey Brin in 2007. Wojcicki consistently ranks highly on Forbes Magazine's List of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women, and for good reason. Despite all the cool things that Google does, it makes the vast majority of its money from ads. Whoever's running that department may not grab all the headlines, but they have their hands in very important places. Sridhar Ramaswamy, who also served with Wokcicki as Senior Vice President of Ads & Commerce, will now be in charge of the entire department.
