Keep Your Focus During Work with ClearFocus

Clearfocus

People say smart devices make life easier. And to a large degree, we agree. But if someone claims that they make work easier, they clearly haven’t experienced the nightmare of trying to finish an assignment that’s due the coming midnight with a smartphone on the table. It’s during these times when not checking that Email, ‘quickly’ browsing through social media updates, and Googling whatever comes to mind out of curiosity can arguably be the most difficult things to do.

A great app for Android users to safeguard against such situations, especially those who work on a tablet, is ClearFocus. Developed by XDA Forum Member Andreaaaaa, the aptly named ClearFocus is a simple app that tries to help you maintain your focus for a set period so that you can do what you have to do. You set a work time period in the settings, maybe a break time, or even a long break time, the number of “work sessions” before a long break time, and hit start. The big circle that takes the majority of the UI starts to count down, with the timer also appearing in the notification area so you can see it anywhere.

If you think about it, a great portion of distractions spawn from the Internet. Because of this, Andreaaaaa has given you the option disable your Internet connection until the timer stops. If you’re worried that notification sounds and vibrations from messages or even calls will distract you, you can disable them as well. And if you’re afraid that you’ll work overtime (that’s never going to happen is it?), there are options to play a notification sound or vibrate the device when the timer stops.

People have different ways of focusing, and having an app like ClearFocus may be the way some folks are looking for. If you’re one of them, visit the application thread for more details.
