New images of Xiaomi Mi3 smartphone surface amid rumors of 8-core processor inside

XiaoMi-Mi3
Earlier this year rumors surfaced that Xiaomi was working on a new smartphone for the high-end market, the Xiaomi Mi-3, that resembled the HTC One and would come with a Snapdragon 800 processor. Fast forward a few months, and new images and details have leaked showing the initial reports were off base or Xiaomi took the device in a different direction. The latest images to leak show a device much more akin to a Nokia Lumia 920 smartphone, eschewing any signs of rounded corners. The similarity is enhanced by the yellow color of the device, a color featured in recent ads for the newest Lumia. However, the Xiaomi Mi-3 will apparently be available in other colors including green, white, navy blue, cyan, orange and pink.
In addition to the new design revealed by the latest images, sources also indicate Xiaomi is going to release the device with an eight-core processor. The source of the processor is not clear though, with sources trying to determine whether it will be produced by Xiaomi “in-house” or whether they may be looking to Samsung’s Exynos line of processors.
Xiaomi appears to be ready to announce the new Mi-3 smartphone on September 5th. The device will likely only be available in the Chinese market as Xiaomi is still a young and relatively small smartphone manufacturer.
