Followers of our site are probably familiar with Samsung and Jay-Z’s mysterious $20 million partnership.
Those who tuned into Game Five of the NBA Finals last night were treated to more details, and for fans of the undisputed king of mainstream hip-hop, the news was exciting. According to a dedicated website, Jay-Z is giving his new album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, to one million Galaxy phone owners (specifically the SIII, S 4, and Note II) via a special app available from the Google Play Store.
The app will be made available on June 24th and will feature a special look inside the making of the album, and then on July 4th (three days before the album’s official release) at 12:01 am EDT, the first million people will have access to a free download of the album.
Presumably this is only the beginning of the partnership, and I for one am curious to see what other innovative ideas Jay-Z and Samsung can come up with. Let us know in the comments if you plan on grabbing the app and making a mad dash to download the album on the 4th.
