Xiaomi Mi Max 3 boasts a giant 6.9-inch display

It has been over a year since Xiaomi introduced the Mi Max 2, which features a sizable 6.44-inch screen to win over folks who like smartphones with big displays.

Now Xiaomi  is going one step further with the Mi Max 3, which has just been announced. It boasts a design that Xiaomi says is about the same size as a 6.3-inch device, but thanks to its minimized bezels and other design choices, it can fit a screen that’s 6.9 inches with a resolution of 2160×1060.

Meanwhile, you will find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor under the hood, and variants with either 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage or 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The Mi Max 3 boasts a pair of cameras on the back, one of which is a 12MP shooter and the other a 5MP camera. The 8MP front-facing camera features what Xiaomi calls AI Face Unlock.

The battery in the Mi Max 3 measures in at 5500mAh and supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology. There is a fingerprint reader on the back of the phone, a USB-C port on the bottom, and a 3.5mm headphone jack for good measure.

The Mi Max 3 will be available in gold, black, and blue. It will retail for 1699 yuan (about $251) for the 4GB/64GB version, or 1999 yuan (~$295) for the 6GB/128GB model.

That’s a pretty big screen! Are you hoping we start seeing phones with these giant screens more often?
