The LG V40 ThinQ may launch in October

At the beginning of this year, it was reported that LG was planning on skipping the yearly smartphone grind, opting to instead launch smartphones whenever it feels is the right time and not necessarily just because its competitors are launching them. We may see that come to fruition later this year.

According to a new report this week from ETNews, the Life’s Good crew is planning on launching the LG V40 ThinQ in South Korea sometime in October. LG only just launched the V35 ThinQ back in May, so that’s a pretty quick turnaround.

The timing for the V40 ThinQ does have some connection with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 9, suggesting it is about a month after that phone’s launch, and that should reduce the amount of direct competition between LG and Samsung’s latest phones. The V40 ThinQ will reportedly be announced sometime in the middle of September.

This report also echoes what we’ve heard in the past regarding the upcoming V40 ThinQ, saying that LG is planning on putting three cameras on the back of the smartphone. They will reportedly include a 20MP shooter, a 16MP camera, and a 13MP sensor. One of those cameras will more than likely be a super wide angle lens, while another is said to be a telephoto lens.

LG’s V40 ThinQ may also boast a 90% screen-to-body ratio, with minimized bezels all around the display. That would fall right in line with the overarching smartphone design philosophy these days. Of course, one question to ask is whether or not the V40 ThinQ will have a notch or not.
