ZTE Quartz with Android Wear 2.0 launching at T-Mobile soon
A ZTE-branded smartwatch had been finding its way online ahead of an announcement all the way up until the end of March, but now it’s finally officially official.
ZTE has unveiled the Quartz, which is running Android Wear 2.0 out of the box. The wearable will launch on T-Mobile on Friday, April 14. You’ll be able to buy the watch through T-Mobile’s online store on that date, but if you want to buy it in a retail store, you’ll have to wait until Friday, April 21. It will retail for $192.
As far as the features go, the ZTE Quartz boasts a round 1.4-inch 400×400 touchscreen AMOLED display. The case measures in at 46 x 46 x 14.5mm and it is IP67-rated for water and dust resistance. It supports 22mm bands, and you can swap them out with other options as you see fit.
Other features include a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, 768MB of RAM, and 4GB of built-in storage. And the reason why it’s launching on T-Mobile is because ZTE has included cellular connectivity for good measure. However, there’s no heart rate monitor or NFC chip.
There’s plenty going in the right direction for the ZTE Quartz, and that price tag will surely help it stand out.
